Proud Uncle and Aunty!

We are the proud Aunty and Uncle of another nephew.

Zoe and Ty welcomed Max Eamon into the world Friday night at a whopping 9lb 12.

Well done to Zoe for keeping such a big boy so well concealed, she must've really been all baby, because when I last saw her with about 3 weeks to go, she really didn't look that big.

We've been told he had a big head (therefore needing a Cesarean), Ty's nose and lots of hair. We haven't seen any photos yet and we're dying too. All the details we've got so far have come from msg's and skype chat. It has definitely been hard being so far away as we are desperate for information. Hopefully we can chat to Ty on Skype tonight or tomorrow.

I am so excited about the AFL Grandfinal this weekend. Trust me to be another country when I am finally old enough to go to a Grandfinal with my own team in it. Mr Pizza it is! Go Hawkers! I really hope they at least give Geelong a run for their money.

Kane played in a soccer tournament yesterday in the boiling heat. It was so hot and humid, meaning high 30's, but feels like 42 on the weather website. I went out to watch, but only got to see one game and Kane was probably only on for 10 minutes, then came home when it was going to be 1 and a half hours before the finals. They got to the semi to lose during a penalty shoot out.
I went to the dentist and have to get 4 crowns on my teeth. 3 of them come in a set called a bridge, for the missing double tooth, (thanks Dr Strazdin ) which was pulled out when I was 11. The other is for the double tooth that has been doing all my chewing for the past 17 years. It has tried to hold up to the double load it has been doing for those 17 years, but sadly, it's not coping well now. I am very lucky though. Back home, this would be an expensive trip. But here, it is to cost around 7000RMB, just over $1000. Back home a fair few thousand dollars would be my guess. I can get 25% discount if my school joins the dentist as a VIP member and should be able to get $350US back on health insurance, so it'll come down to just over $500AU in the end.
Ok - Have fun everyone,
Kelly

Kane is still in love with his bike.

I am getting worried everyone. I'm worried Kane will want the rings attached to his bike at our wedding. Maybe he'll want us to ride away together after the ceremony. Possibly have it attend our reception!!!????

Today it was hot and humid! We went for a walk and came home very sweaty. We locked ourselves out of the apartment and had to get the agent to come by with the spare key. But, the good news is that the humidity is less now, but only for a short period as it is raining. I'm sure once the rain stops and the heat comes back the humidity will be even worse.

The Internet has been very painful of late. We went for 1.5 days without anything, and then the last few days it has been on and off. We have had a technician, agent and tomorrow a landlord will come and try to fix it for us. So after much annoyance, we finally found out that Mitta won the Reserves Granny on the weekend. Well done boys.

After last Thursdays post, things have settled down a bit. The 'boy' has gone to another class, swim club went a little better on Friday and shopping at Ikea has definitely improved my mood.

I have come down with a cold though and I felt utterly miserable all day Saturday. Enough to send me home from Mr Pizza and from watching the footy Saturday night. Now I just feel as though Laryngitis could step in tomorrow if I talk too much, we'll see.

Tomorrow we will be back at work after a public holiday today. It was the mid-autumn festival on Sunday and we gladly had a day away from school, catching up on some zzz's. The mid-autumn festival celebrates as the heading suggests. You get and give moon cakes. Some are just delicious and some are utter fowl. The price range is huge. I didn't buy any this year, but I did receive 2 from a child in my class, a little Taiwanese girl. They were delicious.

So, I hope everyone is well.

Take care

Kelly

I can't sleep!!

I was lying in bed for the past hour not sleeping and I gave up! Kane is asleep, it's hot, I'm tossing and turning so I thought I would get up and write down all the things I was thinking about and go back to bed and try again. It's worth a try isn't it?
  1. My kids are being ratty and I'm sick of telling them off!
  2. My teaching partner is the coordinator and gets extra time off. While they put other teachers in the room during these periods, I still feel responsible for her children as well as my own as I know their names, etc. So I feel like I'm teaching 35 kids instead of my 17, especially her 2 English beginners.
  3. I just found out I am to get another student in 2 weeks. It was to be a girl. It's not. Another boy will be coming. That will make 12 boys and 6 girls. He knows no English and has only been in Grade 1 for 3 months in Korea, and for some reason he has been enrolled into Grade 2 at our school!!!????!!!! What the?
  4. Yesterday was swim club. 19 children turned up, along with the 40 from the swim team and 13 infants for lessons. All sharing the same pool area. 12 kids to a lane! Some need swim lessons, not swim club! Now swim club is for Grade 4-12 kids to swim laps. A Grade 2 girl panicked at what was expected and had a panic attack. In the middle of all this a teacher (dickhead teacher) was swimming laps and had the gaul to ask if the kids were swimming of standing because naturally they were in his way!!!! So Kelly had to have her say to this moron. On Friday we will be telling some of the children they will not be able to come to swimming club anymore because it is unsafe. They must be able to swim 50m unassisted.
  5. Plus I'm tired and cranky
  6. And I had a coffee at 6.00 tonight
  7. And I am thinking about Zoe and checking my email every few hours. It was the first thing I did when I got on the computer 15 minutes ago :)
  8. And the fact that I am soooo disappointed we are not home for the birth, get to hold 'it' an won't get to see the little McGregor for nearly 10 months.

So Kelly is feeling really annoyed, stressed, sad, disappointed, etc, at the moment. Hopefully now I've written this, when I go back to bed, I can sleep.

Goodnight everyone.

Happy Fathers Day

HAPPY
FATHERS
DAY
DADS!

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads that read this. This day always comes around so fast while we are here, and I didn't even do an activity with my kids in class... oops, I did mothers day last year, I suppose I had more time to organise an activity.I hope everyone has had a great week. Kane and I have been so busy. We have been getting used to the new apartments and getting things organised. We have cooked a few different meals like Pad Thai, Stir-fry, and Spag Bol, and yesterday I got a whole heap of food from Metro (a cash and carry store) to help us get started. The whole shop cost about 1200 yuan, which is just over $200AU, but we did get 6.5kg of eye fillet, a bottle of Bailey's and a 6 pack of corona, plus the the groceries, so it is pretty economical.

We have been able to go down to the local hang out Mr Pizza to watch the AFL finals this weekend, and it was nice to see Hawthorn win on Friday night. Kane will also go down and watch the Pies at lunch time. We don't have satellite TV at this new place and it makes it really hard. I just don't have the patience to watch movies most of the time. We will get cable installed this coming week, but this only has 4 channels. Luckily for Kane he can still watch boxing at Bruce's, but I will have to go to Mr Pizza to watch McLeods Daughters.

Thinking of you all, congratulations to Jenny and Dahle on your holiday win, Zoe - I hope you drop TODAY! What a special gift that would be to Ty. To the Mitta Football club - commiserations to the seniors, but you can't win them all. Good luck to Luke playing in the Reserves Grandfinal this coming weekend.

Bye everyone
