9-10 weeks

Life is chugging along here at our house! Finn is growing a changing everyday, I can't believe how fast time flies...

He is weighing 4.88kg now and is 68cm long. We are on a routine now where we are up at 7am, feed, play and asleep by 8.45. Then we get up at 11am, feed, play and sleep again at 12.45. Up at 3pm, feed, play, nap from 4.15-5.15, bath, feed, play, book and bed by 7pm. I do a dream feed at 10.30. Usually with this timetable, he will only wake up once the earliest wake was 2.45am, but the lastest was 5.10am.

I am feeling much more organised and prepared with the above. He is a happier bub and I can get a bot more sleep which is important.

Here are some current pics -

Finn 6 Weeks

Finn started smiling this week, he was nearly cackling today when I was mucking around kissing him and making silly noises! He loves his play mat and can spend about 20 minutes entertaining himself under the toys.

In the suit my Uncle wore when he was a baby. He is now 13 years old!
He had his needles yesterday and so he is a bit out of sorts, wanting lots of cuddles from Mummy, so I am not complaining too much.

4 Weeks

Finn was 4 weeks young on Thursday and he is now a wopping 4.1kg bub. He has grown 1.5cm in length and in head circumference. Life is as it should be, feed, play, sleep and then it all begins again. He is becoming more aware of what is going on around him and looking and responding to lights, noises and sounds. Sleep is still in bursts of between 3-4 hours with some 5 hours stints.

Close up! I love the arm action.

I am doing well, I try to sleep in the arvo's with him, but I am lucky, I usually get between 6-8 hours between 12pm and 9am. My weight is within 3kg of my starting weight, but I still can't fit into any of my old shorts, pants or skirts. So we'll stick with maternity stuff for now.

Being Spoilt and back to Reality

We seem to take two steps forward and one step back in the sleep department with Finn. We have had 2 fabulous nights (Sun, Mon) and one trying night (last night). The two previous nights Finn only woke up once and was asleep within 45 minutes. There was even a 5 hour sleep on both of these nights  - bliss. Top this with Mum being here to settle him after his 7/8am feed and me being able to go back to bed for a few more hours, it has been bliss.

Last night however he was didn't go down till 12.30am, up at 2, 4.15 and 6.15. At least the 2 and 4 feed he went down after 45 mins. But still! And then Mum got him to sleep 5 hours till 12.15. I woke up at 10.15, swore and then bolted down to the lounge in a panic to find him still asleep.

Mum left today :-( So back to reality, and no sleep ins in the mornings.

2 weeks

Finn is now 15 days old and travelling like a little trooper. The childcare nurse came to visit us yesterday and I was extremely pleased to hear that he had put on near 500g in 1 week, he has now passed his birth weight which was 7lb 6, he's now a 7lb 12 bub - GO FINN!

Reality hit a few nights ago with me only getting 2 hours sleep. This we think was a combination of my sore and cracked nipples and him not getting enough to drink from me not relaxing and letting down. My soreness comes from him being a strong little rabbit and pulling while he is attached, this has split the skin at the base of my nipple. To try and fix this I have tried three different sized nipple shields, which have helped with the soreness, but have caused to much wind in Finn. He burps well, but also regurgitates what he drinks for up to an hour. Thus last night we had another shocker of a night and went through 6 romper suits and singlets. Each time he'd settle down and sleep, he'd vomit or poo!

So last night we feed him at 9.45, he didin't sleep till 1am, was up again at 3am, down at 5am and came into bed to bed fed again at 7.45. I try to side feed in bed and doze through the early morning feed between 6-8am, as he usually falls asleep beside me and we tend to get another 2 hours and get some lovely skin contact.

Kane came and got him at 9.30 this morning and changed him. I expressed and got 110mls and then gave it to him while I got another 2 1/2 hours sleep. And you know what? He didn't sleep that whole time, but he didn't vomit at all either. I topped him up with nipple shielded breast and just got him to sleep and hey presto - he did a huge vomit, any pattern developing here? Just got him changed and topped up again and he pooped! Luckily he dozed in my arms and he finally slept at 1pm. He's still sleeping now and it's nearly 5pm. I have expressed for him already and hopefully that helps with his vomiting.

Wish me luck...

Being weighed

My Dad loves me!

'Look how long I am!'

Snoozing in my basinette with Eeyore and the blanket my Great-great Grandma knitted.

Our little man made his entrance into the world at 10.41am on Thursday 13th of January. He is absolutely gorgeous and it has been lovely seeing his Dad melt with adoration. He weighed 7 pound 5 1/2oz and was 50cm long, head circumference was 34cm. My labour was 9 hours long.

At this stage he is a great little bub. I am still very stiff and sore and noticing my lack of muscles!

Pregnancy

Week 5
I'm sure it's a shock to some that I am already 38 Weeks 4 days pregnant, but to me it seems like such a long time. We found out at 4 weeks along, kept it secret until 12 weeks and I have been uncomfortable since very early along.
Week 12

We are having an above average bub from the doctors accounts, 8 and a half pounds at this stage.

The story so far (in no particular order) -
I had very little morning sickness, between Weeks 5 - 9 I felt nauseous and it was around this time that I went off dairy. Milk, icecream, butter and including things made with dairy like chocolate, biscuits, cake, lollies and anything else sweet. I survived on savoury and vegemite sandwiches, vegemite and dry biscuits, vegemite and toast and vegemite on muffins! Mind you, dairy has made a comeback and so has my sweet tooth in the 3rd trimester and I can't walk past a cafe or coffee shop without a milkshake or cookies and cream frappa from Gloria Jeans!

Week 15
It was around this time (week 9) that my back and butt started causing some pain and I had to start seeing an osteopath, it turned out that my lower pelvis where it attaches to my lower back had swollen and has remained so for the duration. From Week 12 I saw my friend Tricia for myotherapy treatment and she has been a saviour to me. I have seen her every 2 weeks since then and at the last treatment yesterday she tried some inducement point massage, though it hasn't worked - I'm still here.

I started feeling Little Mac move and kick from 16 weeks which is really early on and he/she hasn't held back on the movements. I also started attending a 'Fit for Birth' classes around that time too. It is run by the Physio Dept here in Wodonga each Wednesday evening from 5-7pm. It is great to chat to other Mum-to-be's, have a whinge and catch up on who has had their bubs or not and a bit of show and tell. The other great thing about this class is the education part at the end of each session, each week there is a different topic from labour to post exercise, baby massage to coping techniques. I am now the next to jump into Motherhood!

Week 20
Week 20
I started to really pop between week Week 19 and 24. At around Week 28 I went to part-time at work working a 4 day week, from 31 weeks I dropped back to 3 days per week.

Week 33

Little Mac's Room
Little Mac's Room

I finished working at the end of the school year at 35 weeks 3 days - I'd had enough by then. Little Mac was moving around like crazy and the Braxton Hicks were getting really bad. Since then we have had a very quiet few weeks, I had my biggest weight gain at the last check up, 2kg in 2 weeks oh my! But that means I am still only 12 kg heavier than my starting weight. The baby room is all set up, hospital bags are ready as they can be, baby bump photos are taken, head is engaged and now it is all up to our Little Mac to make his/her arrival.
